This is a reconstructed manual of the ELU DB-180 Lathe using materials mainly from Daltonsmachines.com.
Dalton has taken off the download link that's why I choose to upload my reconstructed manual here.

This is NOT a complete manual. The assembly instructions has been removed since a vintage ELU DB-180 bought used would have been assembled already.
The original manual was in German and since Dalton only made the translations of the text to English, diagrams (fig##) referred to are missing.
Would anyone with the original German manual please scan it and upload it here to make the instructions complete? (I do not need it - it's for the sake of others.)

Thanks

Attached is the Dalton's version of manual

Dear Reuel, I am desperate to have some form of manual for this DB180, as I cannot remove the centre drive 4 pronged huge nut off the spindle, to expose the M18 X 2.5 thread. I am told that I can then buy a threaded adapter to increase the thread size to 1" x 8 tpi. From there I can buy a chuck to fot this thread. I would be most grateful if you could advise me as to how I can remove this drive centre nut. Then I can move on and get tyhings going. Thank you so very much for any help you could possibly give at this present time. Yours Sincerely Mr David Hamilton.

Yeshuah, I can help you with your problem. The centre drive unit may be removed as follows,

On the top to the headstock is a small hole about 4mm diameter. It looks like an oil hole. Insert a steel rod into this hole (I used an allen key). Turn the centre drive unit by hand until a hole in the spindle aligns with the steel rod. The steel rod will slip down into the hole in the spindle. This locks the spindle and the centre drive unit may now be loosened and removed with an adjustable wrench. This will give you access to the threaded end of the spindle.

Regards,
Lee.

Elu Lathe Manual--where is it?

Hi,
We have an ELU DB 180 lathe with copy attachment and we are looking for a manual.
We saw your post saying there was a manual uploaded, but we could not find it?
In other words, we could not find the manual to download?
Is it still available for download?
Please let us know, many thanks

G'day @IanDD , and welcome to the forum.

It would appear that manual was not uploaded, or has been lost during some of the recent changes to the forum.

It should be attached to the original post....

Elu Lathe Manual--
I also am very interested in a manual for the DB 180, and could not find it as a download on this forum thread. Is it still available?

Ian
Hi
IanDD,Yeshua, routerelusorb

The ELU DB160 Lathe recontructed manual I uploaded somehow got deleted and I cannot find my own copy on my computer & server.
However I can still find Dalton's version of the ELU DB160 manual + parts illustration type A and Type B.
I can and will upload them if any of you still wants them.

Hi reuelt, it may be handy to add that to our extensive library. We receive many requests for manuals for older machines...

I have just uploaded Dalton's version of the ELU DB180 Manual at the 1st Post of this thread

For those interested in the ELU DB180
1. I bought a GPW 100mm Deluxe Chuck Kit SET with a M18x2.5mm insert. for the ELU DB180 lathe. Very accurate and also included indexing holes.
Automotive lighting Automotive tail & brake light Light Motor vehicle Automotive tire

But Gary Pye Woodworking in Queenland Australia now only sells VICMARC Chucks but also available with M18x2.5mm insert to suit the Elu DB180.
2. I have adapted a used Jacob 1/2 drill Chuck for the tail stock or even headstock.
Household hardware Gas Auto part Cylinder Fastener

3. I have made Velcro Sanding disk using a 6" base plate with 3/4"x10tpi thread. It works well when tightened.to the m18x2.5 screw thread or GPW chuck or the tail stock since my Jacob drill chuck uses 3/4" 10tpi to connect to adapter I custom made.
4. I have a10mm long wood drill bit + extensions connections to drill long holes through the Tail Stock.by just removing the pin of the cup chuck of the ELU std tailstock. Best of wiring cable thru turned lamp stand posts.
5. I had replaced the Start Run capacitor of the motor so it is still very powerful. Before replacing the motor sometimes would spin in reverse.

So I don't need to upgrade to a newer lathe.
