Even Baltic Birch has gotten so expensive I save scraps I may not have considered before. If the piece is not big enough for the top you want insert an "artistic gap"(whatever that is) and it looks like you planned it that way. Baltic birch and walnut for granddaughters keepsakes. Really popped after varnish but no pictures.

Looks like it was designed with the use of exposed plywood edges to add details to the box. Nice clean lines.

I'd like to see more of your work, especially those using leftover materials

You would be surprised at the size of some of the future project materials that I have saved over the years. I probably need to start using some of those on a few projects just to see if it was worth saving them.

Welcome to the forum Daqve.
That is a nice keepsake. Your granddaughters will be happy.
Like you, I use wood to the maximum saving any leftovers for future projects.
