External speed control for Maktec

I’m looking for a router and I found Maktec, similar to Makita 3612BR. It does not have a variable speed on it. I’d like to use large bits and I have an external speed control. Could I use it with the Maktec to have a variable speed? Thanks.

YES, but you will not have the full power of the router in short RPM=HP, the more RPM the more HP it will produce.
But it will work fine with small cuts when you use the large bits, :) you just can go as fast as you want.
