Faster than on the CNC

I needed to make a handful of pistol props. I could have spent time designing for the CNC, but it was easier to make a master and then do pattern routing. I rough cut the blanks on the bandsaw, drilled the trigger guards on the drill press, then flush trimmed and rounded over on the router table.

In all, 6 were done in the same time it would have taken me to get a board on the CNC. If I had to do a bunch more I would probably use the CNC to rough cut the blanks, but rounding over is still faster on the router table.

Now I have to go and start painting!

Now the CNC may be involved later today..... Just because 31 inches is a pain to swing on my scroll saw. Haven't decided if it will be a stick or drum magazine yet

@jw2170 James, these are props for a 1920's themed murder mystery dinner. They will be given away afterwards

Last night's party was awesome, The Tommy Guns and Pistols were a hit for those who needed them to complete their outfits. They also made great souvenirs for those who wanted them. The Tommy Guns were CNC cut out of MDF, and the finish is cheap black spray paint for the black, and a quick coat of oil and wax mix on the bare parts to darken the look. I was worried that the finish wouldn't dry because it was so stormy and humid on Friday, but Saturday was beautiful and everything dried perfectly.
