FINALLY A Sawdust Weekend!

So I think it was last (8/19) weekend, I finally got a sawdust weekend. The deck is complete, and there were no other projects due, so I went out to the shed and did some cutting. No signs (that will hopefully be this weekend) but I got some scrolling done. I needed a tablet stand, and Ken wanted a little larger one than I made him last time, and I made a couple novelty items.... All these patterns are Steve Good, I believe. The second picture is a stand to hang on your steering wheel to hold your tablet when you're sitting in your vehicle, and a phone foot. No, it can't stay on while driving... it will fall off, That's what I like about the design. I use it while I'm on lunch at work, playing my puzzles on my tablet. I put a piece of non-skid rubber on it tonight. The Frog is for my gf who loves frogs, and the massager? Well, I had to give it a try. I used wooden wheels, rather than cutting my own, so only the handle was cut. I had a small metal rod, and used it, instead of a wooden dowel. Figured it would be a tad sturdier.

That's a fun frog. Love the big feet. Glad you're making a little sawdust again. Work has a way of getting in the way of fun.

Thanks. Not my design, (sorry to say) Jon. It's Steve Goods design. He has a whole slew of free scroll saw patterns. I picked up the eyes at Joanne's. They're technically too big (40mm) but the next size down they had in stock was too small.

Barb: Appreciate the details. I’ll definitely check out Steve’s website For me the “eyes” really make It pop.

Barb fitting work and having in the shop is hard to do. But being retired and able to work in the shop every day isn't as easy as I make it look. :wink:

Like every body else I like the frog. Great job. :grin:

Barb,

Only this past two days have I been able to make sawdust after a long 7 weeks. Life just got in the way for me too.

I love the frog and like the over sized eyes. I think he would look not as good with smaller eyes.

Thanks, everyone. Amanda saw it, and has put in a request for a Butterfly on a rod to put in her butterfly bush at her new house (she's closing on next week.) Haven't found a pattern yet, but I'm not giving up. lol

Butterfly wing markings are pretty much the same on both wings. You might consider finding a line drawing online. Here's the search result. https://www.bing.com/images/search?...vt=line+drawing+of+a+butterfly+wing&FORM=IGRE

I think you were using a method to transfer the laser image to wood. Well print the image on enough sheets to cover your wing size, and transfer it to the wooden wings. Then referse the image and transfer it to the other side for a matching image. Then paint the color areas, then the lines with a long bristle pinstriping brush. Painting the lines last will cover any oopsies in the color areas. Finally, take a picture and let all your biggest fans see what you've made.
