Hi guys.

Keity, my daughter, is running a small craft business that is growing. Recently she bought a new and bigger laser printer machine to replace the small one she had.
A new table was also required so I visited several hardware stores to buy some 2x4x12 and several basic tools and supplies. There are so many options to choose from.
Needless to say that I recycled most of the material from the shipping box, (10mm plywood, screws)
It is cumbersome to adapt myself to US measurements since we are used to metric ones.

We understand. Americans tried to convert to metric and gave up after a short time.

Being a scientist and understanding how easy it is to work with the Metric system, I wish we had endured.

All the fractions are much harder to calculate than moving decimal points!!! And then there is the decimal versions of American inch measurements...........We really need to go Metric and be done with it all!!

Are you living here now? There's a scene in a Robin WIlliams film. He plays a defector from Russia and is on his first shopping trip for coffee. He is so overwhelmed by all the choices that he faints. We do have abundance down pat.

Only three countries in the world don't use the metric system: the United States, Liberia, and Myanmar. Every other country around the world uses the metric system. Quoted from Google.

All the more reason to go metric eh!

But the main reason to make the change to metric is the math!! Much simpler working with decimels rather than fractions.

Only reason I continue to use fractions in woodworking is I am borderline too old to change now and a lot of things are setup/dependent on it here in the states.

Yes, Tom.
We've almost two months here.
The situations that you mention were so common in my country when some cuban people arrived there and were surprised that they could buy a whole chicken or two to eat.
