Welcome to the forum! Add your first name to your profile to clear the N/a in the side panel. Add your location, as well.

What sort of experimenting are you doing? We like photos!

James, what are you coming up for?

@Guv which Newcastle is it? Enquiring minds want to know!
I live just out of Newcastle NSW in Lake Macquarie, so if you're in Oz, we'd be neighbours!

Maree just wanted to go for a drive this weekend. As women do, she changed her mind and we went down to Kiama......LOL

Hi everyone. I am back. Apologies for the delay in replying to all the welcome messages. Life has totally got in the way lately so no time for the computer really. I am from ....... Newcastle NSW AUSTRALIA! :)

Routing and woodworking is my blood I guess. My father was an Industrial Arts Teacher - at least that's what it was called back then! Woodwork, Metalwork, Tech Drawing etc. I learnt heaps from him.

I haven't really done much with it for ages. Though finally decided it was time to set up my own Man Shed. I felt the calling to play with timber again.

It is a slow progress due to available funds, but have begun with building a router table and table saw, oh and a bit of a dust extraction system and a drill press.

Space is limited as I still have to be able to get the car in shed when not playing, and I have designed everything to be higher than normal due to some ongoing back issues. I came up with the idea of up-cycling some old cupboards and putting them on wheels so it can all be rolled away to allow the car back in the shed. Due to available space I also made sure the router table can me used as an out-feed table for the table saw and vice versa.

I will post some pics.

I have hit a dead end with my router table and can't raise the bit high enough. I will post about that issue in another thread. Can someone please recommend the correct thread to post that in?

Cheers and thanks for the welcome.

Woohoo, someone "local"! I know what you mean about limited space and limited budget. It's taken me time to get the few tools that have been part of my journey. Looking forward to seeing more of what you build, and maybe will have to arrange a gathering sometime. I live in Warners Bay, so pretty close by.
