Gerber Sabre. Stuck in System Orientating mode

3643 Views 9 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  R Kett
Got a Gerber 408 router. Everything working fine yesterday. Always turn on the main power box. Then the spindle box. It goes thru its "A" Orientation. But it's stops after that. Module screen keeps reading "System Orientating" . Does not recognize home to proceed with initializing table & material protocal

Any help would be great. Of course it's when I have an important job to do.

Thanks

Hello
Attached is user guide that has trouble shooting from page 58.
I recommend that you POWER OFF and do some cleanup FIRST. Most issues are due to CPU fan not working or CPU heatsink full of dust etc. Also clean up the tracks & leadscrew & oil them (DO NOT oil z axis lead screw). Check all limit switches are working by say using multimeter.
Then power-on and then follow the troubleshooing from page 58 of manual (atttached).

There is one more thing that you can do that might resolve the problem. Some hardware does not actually fully power off when turned off so they store some information from previous sessions, this sometimes causes problems like you are talking about. I recommend powering down then disconnect from the power source and let it sit for 5 min. Then reconnect and power, turn the controller on and see if that solves the problem.
Thanks for the reply. Yes I did the complete disconnecting power from wall and let it rest for 10 min.
Thanks Reuel, Where are the limit switches located and the lead screw.
Theirs one in the front and one in the back right by the Y lead screw and then there will be one on the right and left hand side of the gantry near the X lead screw
They're usually black and U shaped if you find the broken one and its not the one it uses for orientating you can unplug it and jump the two contacts temporarily
Thank u so much. Those i have located. they look fine. It's the z limit switch i'm looking for.
it's on top there will be 4 screws on the top cover pull that cover off and you should see it right in front
Sorry i couldn't figure out how to send pics in a private message
this what the top of our sabre 408 looks like.
