Good morning everyone!

I’m new to the forum and wanted to just say hi.
I have heard that there’s a cnc router called Goliath that is now entering the market. Has anyone heard about this product? Or maybe used it or have seen it in action?
Also, curious to know where I can buy one.
Welcome to the forum Jack!

Are you referring to this GOLIATH CNC product? A mobile CNC router is sounds interesting. From what I've been able to find on-line they started taking pre-orders back in 2018 and raised over a million $'s with their kickstarter campaign but I don't think they are actually shipping any products yet. They also stopped taking any more pre-orders.

If they eventually bring the product to market it would be interesting to see how it performs.

Bernie,

thanks for your reply.
Back at the time of the kickstarters campaign I was intrigued by the product but I took my time and when I decided to subscribe it was closed because I'm told they got more requests than anticipated. I heard they started delivering the product to the subscribers late last year, so I'm curious to know if anybody on the forum has received this Goliath CNC router and what the feedback is.
I did some digging on their forums. It sounds like their shipping started in November but it will take until the end of this month to ship the first 100 pre-orders out. They are stating that the remaining 600+ pre-orders will be shipped by the end of April of this year.

Their forum is not filled with complimentary comments at the moment. People are pretty upset at the delays in shipping and the software seems buggy. I'm guessing they'll get that worked out but it will be interesting to see how long it takes.

The unit is supposed to deliver 0.1mm / 0.004" in repeatability of cuts. I'd be interested in seeing if that is true. Watching a few of the videos seeing this 22 pound mobile CNC unit drive back and forth over all the sawdust and chips it's creating I'll be surprised to see if it is really that repeatable. The unit doesn't work off of camera/tape markings like the Shaper Origin does, rather it works off of two little towers that you place at each edge of your workspace and it uses some sort of signal from those two devices to orient itself. Those two units have to be screwed or clamped down so it will be interesting to see how something like this would work over a large floor or other workspace.

It's interesting technology but I'm not sold yet. The next year will definitely be make or break for this company. If things do work out as planed for them I'm sure it will take a dent out of the Shaper Origin market.
