Hello everyone,

I'm new to routers. I bought one a few years ago with big ideas, it found its way in storage and I recently dug it out for a project. Most of my experience is with hand tools, not powered ones.

My project has made me appreciate having an electric router lol. I started looking at all the different ways it can be used and found there is a world of jigs and ideas.

I set up a crude quick and easy mortiser jig that worked amazingly! but I would like to make a more dedicated setup. I have a x,y table I'd like to use with the router mounted horizontally. A similar idea brought me here to this site.

I look forward to making my jig and I'm already looking at getting another router! Your help and experience will be a big help.

I just looked that up. That is really cool but no, I dont need anything so fancy. I wouldn't mind the versatility though. My x,y table does not tilt. I suppose I could have the router tilt. I'll google this further but my basic idea is just a router mounted horizontally and use the x,y table to feed parts into.
