Got a Pattern Request This is the Preview

Hey guys. I told you how I had taken my Welcome sign (with fish hooks) to work and had it sold in five flat? Well, another co-worker asked me to create one that she could do for a family member who is a hunter/fisherman. Well, I FINALLY got to sit and play on my laptop (although it's technically broke, I can still use it. I have to be gentle with her, or I'll be looking at a kb with no monitor. I would hook her up to another source, but I don't have an HDMI port.. bummer. )

Anyway, some major altering went into one of these designs, but I'm geeked. Hopefully this afternoon sometime I'll be cutting a couple of these. Ken really liked 'em. I hope the sportsmen around here will, too.

They look great Barb but are those what you're actually selling them for? Seems way to cheap IMHO. You have the wood, your time, wear and tear on the router and bit, plus electricity. Unless you're using free wood and knocking them out in 5 minutes you're giving these away.

And just for the record you can get video cables that go HDMI to DVI and the like. One of my gotos for computer parts if you don't have a local Micro Center (I don't) is Newegg.com. Just do a search for the cable needed.

Yes, Steve, it is. People around here don't like to give out money for crafts around here, and if I can get $10 for the last row with simple words and one graphic, I'm doing good. Maybe if I can get into either craft fairs or be on the side of the road somewhere, Then I can up my prices.

They look good Barb. I do agree those prices are too low to cover cost of materials, bits, tools, electric and labor. You make great signs!

I know, but it doesn't do me any good to charge the correct amount if no one will buy them, and they sit around collecting dust, right? At least this way I get a little something out of it.

Yep. Someone once said, it is easier to sell 100 things for $1 each, than it is to sell one thing for $100.

On the other hand, you go 10 miles away from home, you might be able to sell for more. Or, always possible, people only willing to pay less. location, location, location.

Had a friend who made/makes nice boxes, going from around $30-40, up to maybe $70. That is, "after" he started going to craft shows - which were a bit of a pain. But he started getting repeat customers, then started doing some consignment work. Then he started getting customers by word of mouth, and consignment places were calling him. No more craft shows. Won't say it would happen with you, but might be worth a shot. He donated a sailboat, about 27' I believe, and bought one about 32', with his earnings, and still had money to pay for mooring.

I had thought about an Etsy business. Once. Then realized I'd be working my tail off if things sold well. I want some extra money, not a truckload of work. But a not so old store here has parking lot sales about 9 months a year. Rents out up to 20 spaces on a weekend, once or twice a month, $25 per space, and there always seems to be a good size crowd. I think that is what I want to try.

I like the center row best, but would think it should be priced higher than the left row. Nice tho.
