I'm a nubie here and just thought I'd say hello. I'm retired, love to work with wood, am an artist who paints in oils and other mediums. I build my own canvas stretchers and frames so this forum looks like a great place. I have built small furniture pieces, and other carpenter work around the home. Anyway, good to be here. Right now I am trying to figure out doorway transitions with and without the door. The transition is hardwood floor to carpet. O:blink::blink:ne of the doorway openings has a sliding (pocket) door and I need to install the correct transition that will allow the door to close. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

Welcome Ira.
I'm sure you will find everyone here to be most helpful.
As for your transition pieces, a little more info would be helpful, such as are the floor heights even or offset from one another? Are you on a framed floor or a concrete slab?
There are many pre-made transition pieces available from different flooring suppliers but they are generally not that hard to make either.

Hey, thanks for responding Tim. The floor is a framed floor. The two floor heights are offset accordingly: Top of hardwood floor is 1/2" to base, 1/4' from top of hardwood to carpet pad. It was difficult to measure top of carpet to top of hardwood with out cutting the carpet. Ira.
