Welcome aboard. The wood shop can be a daunting place but once you get started and have good references it becomes easier. I find it relaxing for the most part. Expect challenges and some failures but also expect to make your projects your own. By that I mean that plans are simply a path to a result and deviating from the plan to make it yours is always a choice. I can think of few plans I followed completely. I would say the most important to the learning curve is understanding the dangers of any tool you use. There are many videos and online manual available to help guide you through and the forum is another invaluable source as well. Make good use of it when you can.
