Hello to all, I'm not much of a social media guy, but I was researching product reviews and stumbled upon this site awhile ago.

So I am a mariner getting really close to retirement and a hobbyist that likes to work with wood. I have recently purchased some used equipment that I need to learn how to operate and repair when required. I am really hoping to be able to tap into all the knowledge and experience of those here willing to share.

Thanks for accepting me into the group.

I recently purchased a few General International tools (shaper, joiner w/mortice attachment, planer, drum sander, table saw etc.) Still building a functional shop, hopeful to post pics in my profile soon.

Welcome to the forum,we have a couple of mariners here already. We look forward to your projects whether it is questions on tool operating or woodworking, or just showing your projects, don't feel that your projects will not meet standards here as we get to see all levels of wood working, and it also shows the progress a person makes with each project.

Welcome to the forum Terry.
Hey,Terry; welcome!
"Drum sander"....*envy!*. On my most wanted list.
'Mimac' (Brian) is over in Langford. He's a really accomplished craftsman, and a generally nice guy. He'd be happy to talk shop with you; PM him if you'd like to chat. :)

Thanks Dan, the tools I've purchased used to belong to my neighbor and friend, I have used them multiple times over the years, and now it's up to me to maintain them. The drum sander was interesting trying to get the table tracking evenly.

I'll keep an eye out for Mimac, thanks.

Hi Tom, first thing I did was check out Sticks documents, very informative indeed.
