I built these two chests for my very young grand nieces. My great grandfather built about a dozen of them for his grand daughters and grand nieces. They are about 25% machine built and 75% hand built using my great grandfather's and grandfather's hand tools plus a few 100yr old ones I bought and refurbished. These are some of my work that I started after retirement. Wasn't sure I could design and build them. My wife kept me going.

Really nice work. Are the insides just one chamber, or is the space divided in some way? I think some sliding boxes resting on rails on the long insides would allow adjustment of separate storage areas for small stuff.

They both have sliding boxes. And the natural finished one has a secret floor compartment that takes a magnet put in a specific spot. Also both are lined with aromatic cedar. In the interest of safety both have soft closing gas struts.

Great family heirloom.

That's my 'Hope'. Still have one more to build. But as she's just one year old I have a few years. The next one will be another A&C, Hall Brothers inspired. Just haven't got arountoit. Maybe next week I'll sharpen the pencils.
