Hello,
I'm getting ready to build my first ladder using my router. I plan on building a simple ladder to my crawlspace using Doug Fir (2x10s) for the stringers and probably 2x6 for the treads. I'm planning on routing a 1/2" dado for my treads to fit into. I am building a jig and doing my layout on the stringer stock with a framing square and stair gauges.
Does 1/2" (treads glued and screwed) sound like a good depth? My 2nd ladder will be hardwood so I figure I would start by building something that is more utilitarian first and see how it goes.
Many thanks to the kind folks here who share their knowledge.
