I have an old Sommerfield table that vibrates the leveling screws in the insert out of adjustment with usage. Is there anything anyone can recommend to stop this or at least slow it down? I haven't tried glue or anything for fear of not being able to access the leveling screws if more leveling were needed.

Hi Bob

I use the Blue Stuff, gasket maker from any auto parts outlet, a dot of it in the hole and than the set screw and your done quick and easy and will not get hard so you can make any adjustments down the road if needed..

What are the threads on the leveling bolt? If it is a standard thread, use a nut as a jam nut. Remove the leveling bolt, run the nut all the way down to the head of the leveling bolt, insert the leveling bolt, level the unit, run the nut up, tighten to hold in place.

It's a fine thread inset screw and may only protrude from the bottom of the plate by a 1/16 to maybe 3/32.

btimms,
Have you checked the mounting screws? If 1 or more are loose, it might contribute to excessive vibration. Look into dampening tech.

The mounting screws are tight. However, the table is mounted to a mobile miter saw stand for mobility and storage (small shop). The stand is pretty solid but I'm going to look at ways of bracing it up - probably adding a sheet of MDF as support for the table. Thanks.
