How Veneer is Made

Not quite directly related to routering, although I router my veneered table tops, but this popped up on my feed.

Never really wondered about the process but it is very interesting to watch.
Thanks, Scott, for presenting this. I'm continually awestruck to see and watch some of these processes. The more I see and hear the less I feel like complaining about the prices of things like this. Now that could be my gullibility but then again, I don't get out much. I could watch this stuff all day. No wonder I don't get anything done. Thank you again.
It would be interesting to know how the equipment evolved over the years. How was it done 50 years ago for instance?

I wonder how this activity is sustainable. In the beginning, I saw very thick trees so I thought that they take so many years to grow.

Not seen that method before, watched a youtube some years ago where they turned the log against the blade and peeled off a continuous sheet.

yeah, that is for rotational cut. this was plain sliced
