Hi everyone, I've had a few set-backs but even though I had the third of eight Chemo. sessions today I'm feeling better than I have for a few weeks. One day which started out OK, I showered, dressed and started to make breakfast when suddenly I started to gasp for breath and had a heavy feeling in my chest. I hooked up the monitor and whilst my blood pressure was close to perfect, my heart rate was 148 instead of my normal 82ish. A phone call to my close living brother-in -law brought him round within a few minutes and off to the hospital we went. After exhaustive tests it was decided that my Potassium level was very low and after a drip everything normalised. I spent a total of three days in the "short stay ward", came out on the Friday and the next day suffered the results of a stomach virus, followed the following day by Marlene getting the same. We spent two days in bed nursed by our daughter-in-law, an ex-nurse. She worked VERY hard, including all the cleaning-up and I'll leave it to your imagination what is meant by that!
At 9am today the physiotherapist called to put me through my paces which went off well, she calls twice a week when I'm home of course. At 11am I was at the hospital for the third of eight Chemo. sessions which took about four and a half hours then at 5pm I went to see my GP because my left ankle is very painful when I stand and I'm sure that I haven't banged it. X rays were taken and on Monday I'll go back for a specialist's report. After all this trauma, as I said at the beginning, I'm feeling excellent at the moment, but just in case, I was given another bottle of anti-nausea tablets!

Good to hear from you Harry. My wife also went through some very low times when she went through Chemo, but she climbed back up and she's doing fine now. Hang in there and we're rooting for you.

I feel for you on the chemo deal. I only had 3 sessions, fortunately no nausea to speak of. The nausea pills, however, were $250 each! Only took one.

Have you been able to go out and fiddle in the shop a bit? At my lowest, I found that was a real pleasure just being in there, straightening things up a bit, fondling a tool or two, drawing up a project. I've found that working on something in the near future really helps keep my spirits up. Had a heart attack last Spring, but thanks to a stent, doing pretty well. Have a brother on the heart transplant list, so I'm happy to still be here.

Keep on keeping on Harry. Glad you post now and again. Maybe you could add feedback for some of us on projects, problems and plans? You're always on point. My best to you and your wife after your tough week. Tom

Glad to hear you are doing well, Harry. My mother was told by her Dr. many years ago that bananas are a great source of potassium. Cut back if you start climbing trees and chandeliers. You Aussies are tougher than a ten cent steak.

Glad to see you posting Harry. I couldn't cut a piece of wood or mow the yard for most of my life due to allergies. Can do both now after chemo.

When the time comes, and you are back in the shop, how about a short video for us to enjoy. We love your pictures.....but I for one love to see you moving about in your shop. And I especially like hearing you talk!! They say we Texans have an accent.....but that ain't true. We all sound normal when we speak. LOL!!
