Incra Table Packages with no Fence Dust Collection

The number of Incra Router Table packages can be quite overwhelming when trying to do your research.

There's a version of the Incra Offset with no fence based dust collection. This seems odd. Even with the dust collection at the router plate, I could image things would get messy without Fence dust collection on longer profiles.

What do you guys think of the versions of Incra table packages without dust collection in the fence?

I have the Incra system like the one in your posted picture, but the longer version, and it does have dust collection through the fence. A dust collection plastic fitting secures to the far end of the fence with a plug-in 90 degree swivel elbow to connect to my vacuum system. If you have doubts, call Incra, and discuss it with them. They have good technical support people.

Incra doesn't make it easy to see. You never see it RT2 or RR1 Combo photographed with the elbow installed.

It gives the customer the impression you need the wonder Fence upgrade to have Fence based dust collection.

It looks you do have to add-on the Wonder Fence to get dust extraction from the Fenece. The RT2 is based on someone doing Dado, box joints, etc where Fence dust collection is useless.

The RT3, your versions of the same table has the wonder fence and dust collection.

I may well get some push back about what I'm about to say about Incra's in the fence DC arrangement. Before I say anything, let it be very clear that I am an advocate of Incra tools and have quite a few of them.

When it comes to the DC port in the fence issue, it is my opinion that it is almost of no value. Again, my opinion, in order to have a good set up a person really needs the Wodner Fence. The standard fence seems to be pretty limited compared to the WF.

When making a cut on a work piece that is wide enough to require the fence to be set back from the bit, the dust created can in no way be captured by the through the fence DC port..

Mark Mueller, Inca's Tech Support person, told me what he does wlhich is a simple box that resides beneath the router table and incases the router and the lift. There is a four inch outlet at the bottom of the box that the DC hose can be connected to which creats a nice down flow of air that for the most part pulls the dust and/or cuttings down from the bit, through the box and into the DC though the four inch hose.

Now, that's just one person's opinion of course and I will be watching for comments that probably disagree with me as well as some that will agree. Let's see.

I don't know why Incra bothers with the LS Package 1 and 2. They don't really save you any money. In the long run you would need to buy the wonder fence to do any 3-7 foot edge profiles.

You end-up paying $75 USD or $100 CAD dollars more if you try to buy the Wonder fence at a later date.

You need a dedicated shop space to accommodate the LS systems.

A fully extend LS extends 17 -25 inches beyond the table.

I made the statement below in the post earlier which needs some clearification. For the most part I was referring to doing joinery work when the fence is moved away from the bit when making through cuts, not edge profiles.

Without the WF a person would not be attempting to do the jointery work anyway,

Quite ffrankly I have never attempted to use the through the fence port and so I am really qualified to judge the feature. I just know that for me the addition of the WF along with the Mast R router lift and a good DC set up as described in the post above sure makes a sweet set up. I reallze that not everybody needs all of these bells ans whistles.

If I decide to get an Incra, I'd have to go with the Combo 4# table. I like how easy they make it to create a zero clearance.

Kreg's design forces you to remove laminated fence pieces all the time to replace them with sacrificial fences.

I love Kreg's self squaring fence concept.

There's not a lot of information or videos about how the the Wonderfence squares up with the Incra 32-24 inch table's miter gauge on the combo 4#.

Most of Incra time is spent marketing the LS systems. The Standard Center mounted Combo #4 is kind of the ugly stepchild of the group that doesn't get much love from the marketing department.

It looks like I'm going to have to stick with Kreg anyway.

The WonderFence is not self squaring on Combo 4. It's too bad. I have a lot of jigs that ride the miter gage.

I don't have room in my shop or my storage space to accommodate an LS system.
