Hi John - welcome to the forum! :)

I have the Ryobi BT3K (since the early 90s) and just replaced w/ a Steel City TS earlier this year; the Ryobi machine is pretty much 'entry level' for TSs (as you probably already know); I've kept the TS loaded w/ my 6" dado blade for small cuts.

If not already done, I would suggest visiting BT3 Central, which is dedicated to these Ryobi TSaws and likely will have much more information for you in resolving this issue - good luck! Dave

Thanks and I solved my problem. I let it sit for a week and put it back together and the blade went up and down fine incuding after I tightened the screws. No Idea what made the difference.
