Not sure what you're asking... are you wanting to get the bit out? It's probably a Jacobs taper, slim possibility it's a Morse taper. Put a piece of metal through the opening and tap on it with a hammer. Unless the bit is rusted in place it should pop out.

David is correct: you do not have a drill chuck in the drill, each drill bit is individually inserted and removed by a Drill Drift in the long slotted hole to drive out the bit.
you need to get a Drill Chuck with the same Morse Taper for drill bits and the chuck is tightened with a key.

Welcome to the forum, @James Burr
Welcome to the forum.
removed by a Drill Drift
And John is showing the proper tool to remove these. With the Drill Drift you'll tap it in sideways through the opening and it will wedge in the slot and force the bit out. Much better than just grabbing a piece of metal and tapping down on it like I suggested.

Or just cut a piece of steel stock with a grinder or hacksaw with the wedge form as these drifts are not easy to find. If your going to put in a Jacobs chuck don't bother Heat treat your homemade drift as it will last a long time with so few uses.

John is correct. You definitely want to order a chuck, so much easier to use.
