Advice for beginners: My Probotix Nebula got stuck at the far end of the table (y-axis) after I jogged it too far manually in order to put a large sheet on the table.

Homing or jogging did not get it unstuck. With homing it would even start to rattle. I found out from Probotix that you should home first for the limit sensors and even better that you can rotate the long lead screws by hand to get the machine unstuck. That worked

When our CNCs get stopped at a limit switch (by an inexperienced student), I tell linuxCNC to override the error and restart, and make sure the first jog move I make is away from the limit switch. Usually this works the first or second try. If not then turning off the controller and hand spinning lead screws does the trick.

In Mach4 I can override the limit to move it off by jogging. You just have to be careful not to jog it the wrong way because you'll crush a sensor if it's in the path (DAMHIK).
