Machine stalling

929 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Nickwad
I recently bought a 3018 pro, I am using Easel and then UGS .All the speeds and feed settings are stock , My problem is when I start the machine it sometimes stalls , judders and the spindle doesnt start properly . It seems that the spindle starting at the same time as the Z axis motor raising is too much for it . I tried reducing the acceleration of the Z axis motor but same. All is ok with the spindle disconected . I changed $1 to 50ms but it judders during the job occationally. I have it set to $1=255 now it works ok but motors are getting hot at idle. Is there a way of setting a start delay between spindle and Z axis? any ideas please ?

Might be that the power supply is underpowered. Also, have you lubricated the ways?

Welcome to the forum.
G'day @Nickwad , welcome to the forum.
Thx for the welcome! I think we have got to the bottom of the problem , the power supply is a bit feeble 5A. My CNC mate added in a line of code between the spindle starting and the Z axis motor starting that delays the Z axis motor staring by 2 seconds , running well now. ( G4 P2.0) A bit of a pain having to add it ever time tho. I put $1 back to 25. I am going to try a bigger power supply and will report.
