I made this for some friends of mine. Their son, Mac, was 34 years old, married with 4 kids, and dropped dead from a heart attack......no warning signs prior.
Mac was a HUGE baseball fan. And his favorite way to say good bye was "I will meet you at home."
So his Mom and Dad asked me to make a temporary sign for his grave until his headstone is delivered. This is what I came up with.
I bought a 17" round X 3/4" thick laminated Pine board from Home Depot. I cut out the shape and carved the words. The I carved a thin line around the black edge. This way, I could sand the face of the sign, then come back, mask it off, and paint the edges.
I still need to add the polyurethane (at least 4 coats) and mount the stakes for inserting into the ground.
That's a great sign for a sad occasion, Frank. Good job! I know they'll like it. Hopefully it will withstand the weather well and they can take it home in good shape.
