Welcome Tim , I found a picture which said 1500 watts and when I converted watts to HP in Google it gave me 2

Using Ohms law, HP= Watts divided by 746 so this fine router is 2hp. Whilst Ohms law refers to direct current, it's close enough for this purpose.

I keep mine attached to my 'router skis'. A bit noisy, but a great router.
Some one changed the collet on mine, and I have to use a 27mm wrench and a 21mm wrench.
What do you use on your collet?

Welcome to the forum Pat. Don't get hung up on horsepower. Almost all the manufacturer's who make a 1500 watt router will try to tell you that they are 3 plus hp which is malarkey.
What matters is that the Makita 1500 watt machine is just as powerful as everyone else's 1500 watt machine. If you like the Makita then that's the right machine for you. That router will do anything you need it to and should last you a long time. I've worked in a couple shops that used them and abused them and they were still going strong.
