Hi, new to the forum and new to woodworking. I picked up a cheap bench top router table just to give it a go. However, my router (Makita RP0900) does r have the ability to leave it on. That is, I have to have the trigger depressed for power.
How have others gotten around this problem? Simply tape or cable tie the switch down?

If you bypass that safety feature, do you have another method to turn the router off/on in the table?

Thanks James. Yes, I should have mentioned that. The table has a switch box that I can plug the router into. On and off can be controlled via that switch. Nice big red button to hit to power it down.

In that case, I would lock the switch on with a cable tie. I would prefer a variable speed router for the table use, if you want to use bigger edge profile cutters.

James, I tried that earlier on but had no luck with cable ties, as the trigger is in just the wrong place, so I've wrapped duct table around it so it's permanently in the "on" position, but I've also added a Carbatec Remote START/STOP switch Carbatec Replacement Carbatec Remote NVR Power Switch for Router Tables
It works a treat
