They are small but I`ve never heard of anyone having a problem except with the length when switching to a table plate. Sometimes the the originals are too short. Each of those screws is probably capable of holding a hundred pounds or more in static load. There`s nothing wrong with that solution as long as there is no play in the rods.

That's a unique method and well executed but so unnecessary. It's a very nice router Roy, mine is used hand held only, having a Triton under the table.
This shot shows mine with modifications.
