Came home with some 5/4 x 8 select pine and left them on the truck ........... it rained. Now they are cupped and bowed. Any way to save them or did I just buy some expensive firepit fuel. They can be cut into 16 to 24 inch lengths.

John, that's too bad, you can joint and plane them to much thinner boards and save them for a box or something thin.

Some folks have re soaked boards like this and put them under lots of weight for awhile as they redry, but I've never had any significant success at that.

Problem with pine is how fast it grows so there's lots of soft wood that acts like a sponge.

Hope someone else has a cure.

Leave them in the basement for a while, and they should mostly flatten out. Put stickers in between them so they get even airflow on all sides.
Any weights?

Another trick is to lay them in the sun, with the side that got rained on facing up. It'll reverse what the water did.
Or, spray some water on the other side.

John,.John,.............In the future when picking out lumber look at the ends of the board. Both pieces are cut slash grain and if they didn't warp now like they did ,they would have warped later after your sign was done. You should be happy that they saved you from the discouragement of splitting and warping in the finished product.

Look at the diagram Stick put up and when you select lumber pick the boards that have the more shorter cross grain to the end instead of the long grain.
I know it is hard these days to do that , but you won't have to worry about warping and ruining all the hard work you put into a project.

The third piece seems ok. Now you gave me something to look at.

Thanx

When I bring wood home I put them on flat concrete and use 10 lb weights (Walmart - the kind ladies use for Yoga) and that helps. If you are lucky enough to have a gluing rack put them in there & spray them lightly with water, sometimes that resolves the problem.

You can always let them dry and cut small signs out of them.

John , I had a a bunch of 1x4 strips that I wanted to attach to my block wall in order to install that StoreWall product .
For some reason I thought it was a good idea to paint the first. Left and came back an hour later ,only to find them all warped .
Luckily it was a cheap mistake

Murder of crows.

Square-row, round-Raven Tailfeather shape and overall size are the differences. We have Ravens, which are much larger. They raid our pistacio tree every August. Later in the fall we have seagulls, amazing to watch them circling and floating on the air just above our heads.
