New bandsaw table possibility
I’m probably asking a lot of a little $130 benchtop bandsaw to expect the plastic insert around the blade to be flush with the cast iron surface, but isn’t needing 7 layers of masking tape just to level it out a little ridiculous?
With my recent drill press table made, now I’m wondering if I’d see any benefit in making a similar platform for my bandsaw? About all I do with it is shape irregular parts and cut circles or round corners off with it. Maybe cut an arc a few times a year. I’ve seen the time I wished the platform was larger but mostly I’ve wished a thousand times that insert didn’t cause my workpiece to catch as it passed through the blade. Today I fixed that but if I made a new top without an insert I wouldn’t need to worry with it. Why does it even have that? I don’t see any need for removal. Also if I made a new one I could fasten a vac attachment much easier right below the cut point instead of letting all the debris pile up in the bottom and vacuuming out just most of it.
