New desk finally finished

1403 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  roofner
Here is my new computer center not totally finished. I did not have much floor space so design to go up. Built with 3 2o inch by six foot handy panels .
That idea came from MT Stringer. Saves a lot of glue up and uses solid wood. Here is my picture.

Great stuff to work with, eh? :)
If you can figure out a way to install a horizontal back panel, at least 8" tall, spanning side to side you'll have a much safer structure; not as much chance of it deforming into a parallelogram or worse.
At least one drawer would give you a place to stash all the small bits, which if my desk is any example seem to breed at night.

Shelves are 2x stock through bolted with 1/2 carriage bolts mdf on top. No wobble at all . You could stand on the shelves. and they will not deform. plus the face frames are pocket holed between sides
Good job. And you still have room to store more stuff. Those project panels are really handy.
Looking good, Gary. I like those panels too... made several projects out of them.
I've ordered a power surge multi port to fix wiring rats nest. Next going to make a pantry out of a couple more of those handy panels.
Thanks for all the kind remarks. Then get a back put on maybe drawers in bottom right side.
That looks very handy Gary , nice job
Here almost complete. I made 3 drawers as someone had suggested. I need to put poly on the drawers. After poly is applied need hardware put on the drawers and put a back on the case. Here is latest picture
