Welcome to the forum, yep lots of very experienced people here, I've only been woodworking 3 years.
I saw your other thread about the dovetail problem, someone else will have the answer for you, I've only done through dovetails and that was on a different jig. Dovetails are a learning and practice skill for everyone, no matter the method or jig. Use the cheapest wood that you have that is straight and not too knotty/figured.
