Hello, well it said to introduce yourself so that's what I'm doing...

I'm new to routing, never done it before. I didn't take that much woodworking classes in school. You had to register at my school by last name, and I was rather far down the list. The ******** filled the shop classes up before I had a chance to even get in lol. Just my luck. Anyway, I have a pretty major background in maintenance and mechanics in general. Anyway, I lost my job a few years ago so I started working with wood. Just small projects at first, then bigger and bigger ones. About a year ago I bought another house that is a serious handy man special. I've been working on it 3-4 days a week fixing it up. I didn't like any kitchen cabinets that I could afford (those things are very expensive) so I'm in the process of making my own. That led me down the road to routing and to this forum.

Hoz dat!!:dance3:

Hello and welcome to the forum, Joe

Welcome to the forum Joe. I didn't take shop either. It's not a prerequisite to get into woodworking. The desire to learn how is more important. I'll bet a lot of those ******** just took shop so they didn't have to take biology or physics.

Happy you could join in. I never took a shop class, but made sets for theater and did a couple of summers as a carpenter's helper for an old guy who hung doors and did a lot of finish carpentry. Then 50 years of so of home improvement projects. Finally set up a shop about 6 years ago and filled it with good tools. I agree with Cherryville Chuck, the desire to learn will suffice. Make sure you have the very best table saw you can manage, it is the heart of the shop and a good one will make a big difference.
