Hi All. New to woodworking. Rebuilding a utility trailer floor which is made of dried yellow poplar. Need to put a 1/4 deep x 1" wide step along the top surface of several boards to facilitate steel reinforcing angle iron laying flush when finished.

Bought a cheap router at the pwan shop for $ 22.50. It a chinese "Hanydman 1/2", 15 amp. Don't know anything about bits.

Thanks for the response. No manuals with the router or on the internet. Would be nice to find one. Appears that common sense, PPE, etc., will be the plan.

A router can become very wild thing if you just route in the wrong direction,
It can be very harmfull.
Wait untill tomorow , someone will surely give you some links.
Google and youtube are good places to search.
