New patterns for my library (geek style)

Growing up I really enjoyed anime and especially mech shows like Star Blazers, Voltron and Macross.

Since getting my 3d printer, I've wanted a mech figure so finally starting making one. This is the model I made:

Any time I make a 3d model, I always see what kind of cnc pattern it would make for fun. Here are the ones I've been playing with:

I will be printing the middle figure. I'm hoping it comes out but its going to take a few days to print it all out.

Happy cnc carving.

Changed my mind and changed the pose. Going with this now. Starting printing. Machine says about 5 days of printing all the part pieces. Biggest model I've printed so far.

The cnc patterns are going into my library for some future day possible use.

5 days?

how large are the pieces?
lol.

I chopped the above model into 7 parts. I was not comfortable having a print go for 4-5 days and possibly fail near the end. My longest print is the torso now for about 23 hours. Much more acceptable getting a failure.

The model will be 17 inches tall when reassembled.

If anyone has a small one that likes anime and robots.

I am about half way printing the model. I may have to go back and reprint one of the guns. I may have kind of broke it in half playing with a pewpew. I went back and redesigned it so it is a bit thicker in that weak area.

Loving how the parts are coming out though.

For anyone curious. Epoxy glue is drying and I can start painting tomorrow. Model is right at 17 inches tall.

Modeling for 3d printing and modeling for cnc patterns are not the same thing. I still have a long ways to go.

This took way longer than it should of and the model has a ton of errors in many different ways but very happy with it being my first mech design for printing/carving.

I thought I was going to hate painting it but turned out a lot of fun.

What is nice to having these 3d models is I can make a cnc pattern from them anytime I want to.

Hopefully a small inspiration for folks to learn 3d modeling. It is very versatile. Can be used for cnc, 3d printing and can be expanded to animations and compositing.
