I have a porter cable 8259 router that I will use in permanent table mount. I would be interesed in any observations about removing the springs. I ask PC about this and they said it is possible, but recommended I take it to their service center. I don't mind doing this if I can discover how to do it myself.
I would leave the springs in a safety feature. Should the router height adjustment come loose while routing this will cause the bit to be retracted below the table instead of bouncing freely.
