I have a porter cable 8259 router that I will use in permanent table mount. I would be interesed in any observations about removing the springs. I ask PC about this and they said it is possible, but recommended I take it to their service center. I don't mind doing this if I can discover how to do it myself.

Having just read a post on last years forum it raised a concern with removing the springs on my 8529 router. Here is what another users experience:

"I removed the springs from my M12V and the router would jerk while lowering it. So, I put the springs back in."

Would this condition apply to my 8529 router? I can see it being router specific, but that depends if the router depends on the springs alone fo the force to raise it. Could the weight of the router, in a table mount, handle the lowering of the router?
