Hello everyone. My name is Brian and I live in Clarksville, Michigan. Retired from the Air Force a few years ago and now working at a Lowe's distribution center. I found this forum because I was looking for router reviews. I am buying a Bosch in the near future and will start off with rounding off some pine boards to use as baseboards as I redo my basement living room. However, I also want to start learning the basics of wood working as a hobby. My wife tells me I need to find something to keep me busy. LOL I think I must have found one of the most expensive hobbies because I started with virtually no tools a month ago and find myself going broke quickly lately.

Anyway, I look forward to learning about how to use a router on this site...tips, tricks, accessories, etc. I hope to get to know a few of you on these forums. Thanks for having me.

Welcome, : Brian! Glad to welcome another Michigander to the forum! I live in Holland, not so very far away! I think for anyone starting out, there is a lot of things to get. Once about to go, You will be able to practice, and learn a bunch of information. The most expensive bits can be bought when You know what You will be working with. As You move forward, don't forget all the people who advertise specials. My first thought is , Go and get an inexpensive router bit set from Menard's, or Lowe's, or better yet, go to E-bay! Others will be along to give You a lot of information, and possibly a vendor with the best deals. Thanks for joining and have a great time working with the router.

Hi Brian. Welcome to our little corner of the 'net.

I know what you mean about going broke buying tools.. Be sure to keep an eye on Craigslist. There's a lot of "gently used" tools for sale in SE Michigan. Most of my tools are used. People are always upgrading things so chances are good it's not worn out.

Greetings Brian and welcome to the router forum. Thank you for joining us, and remember to have fun, build well and above all be safe.

Brian is correct re Craig's list, I have picked up many good items at great prices.

Welcome to the forum Brian, a good way to find the type of woodworking that you're interested in is to click on a members name, view public profile, statistics, find all threads started by.................
In the case of members like Bj3, myself and others, you may have to take a week or more off work to study all that's there!

Hi, Brian. Yes, it's good to have a hobby to keep you out of the wife's hair. Although fairly expensive in terms of tools, woodworking is good, since you can produce things for the wife. If she complains about the expense, gently remind her that you could have taken up yachting or flying. ;)
