Try not to be too embarrassed, I had some of the same questions and I learned something. I turned my router on for the first time yesterday, not because I didn't want to, but because I didn't have anything to rout. I finally found some poplar at Home Depot to play with my Incra I box, new Bosch 1617 and Bosch table.
They sure make box joints look easy in the videos. It took me much of the day to sort out the various problems in my very exacting set up. The proof is in the cutting isn't it?
