I am a user of an overarm router, mine is from shopsmith and is also a pin router and it can also be a table router. Since this tool is designed for this purpose it seems to be steady enough and one would think that a radial arm saw would be too if you can keep the router stable.
I have seen this method in books but I have not tried it so no real experence with the issue. Most of the books were older ones so I don't know if anyone makes the attachments so you might be having to do that yourself???
