Hi. I am a new router user and have what is probably a dumb question. I keep hearing about something called a "trapped cut" and its inherent dangers. I don't understand and can't picture what a trapped cut is and am hoping someone can explain it to me. Thanks for any info you can give.

In the most simple terms a trapped cut is when the workpiece is positioned between the fence and the cutter....... the cutter will pull the piece in, taking it out of your control, not good for the machine parts and can be worse for you if you happen to have hands or finger pulled in too or if flying bits hit you. At the very least the workpiece will not look to good.
