i'm new the idea of using my router. nor much experience with it.

i seem to recall something on the router workshop about removing the springs from a plunge router. is this a good idea? does removing the springs give more depth of cut?

thanks.

Welcome aboard. It is if you are putting it under a router table easier for adjusting the height and you can't bring it out to do the adjusting in a fixed base.
