Welcome to the forum.
G'day @tdicker20038 , welcome to the forum...
I've got a Shark. Sorry but I just use the control panel proprietary software that runs with it.

You can use the structural parts of the machine, stepper motors, and the router/spindle. The control box won't be used unless you want to take everything out and use the enclosure for your new GRBL system.

You need to supply all the GRBL items. You can use female DB9 serial connectors if you don't want to rewire the stepper motors or rewire them to whatever you want to use. I don't think the female DB9 jacks on the back of the Shark Control box can be used, they are part of the driver boards used in the Shark system. You could also sell the Shark control box and pendant(if you have one) to pay for part or all of your GRBL system parts if you want to.

Which CNC Shark do you have?
Why are you wanting to change to the GRBL?
I have one of the 1st Shark (the white HDPE) machines and converted it to Mach 3 10+ years ago. I reused the stepper driver board and bought a breakout board and ethernet smooth stepper controller that uses a regular RJ-45 cable. I also put limit switches and stop switches and a usb MPG that I programmed to do a auto zero. Very happy with the mods and have been using for 10+ years. I use it with Vcarve pro and have written my own post processor. If I can be of any help let me know.
