Hello all. My name is John Hoban. I have a wife, two married children and two unmarried grandkids, 8 and 18. I just recently started wood working and I am taking classes at Ivy Tech. I am currently cutting my wood teeth on Teddy Chair rocking chairs. I have inherited my dad's 40 plus year old table saw Craftsmen 10 inch tilting arbor bench saw.

My question is: how do I update my old saw? Any help will b e greatly appreciated, thank you.

Do you mean by "update" get a new saw or do some upgrades to your old saw? It would help to know what you are budgeting for this update. If I were updating my saw right now, I would lean toward the Sawstop, either model.:sold: (The rest of you can stop laughing any time now.):haha::haha:

If you can provide additional information it would help.

Welcome aboard John. I have no experience with up grading a saw so take my advice with a grain of salt. I have a craftsman 10 inch saw. If I wanted to up grade the first thing I would do was replace the motor. My saw makes it easy to do. But you have an older one so not sure how this would work out. The next thing I would look into would be the way you measure wood from the saw blade. You can go crazy here. You could buy a top end inkra system or a fence from some other company. Let your budget be you guide. Hope this helps look through the wood catalogues.
