Been taking the most powerful painkillers for so long they have no effect any more so I made an appointment with a Specialist Surgeon who severs the nerves which the pain travels along to the spinal cord. My daughter knows a woman who had this treatment & is now living a normal pain-free life. I thought stem cell therapy was the answer but it has been a big disappointment so I'm opting for this radical nerve cutting operation Wish me luck. James jj777746

Knowing what pain is like, I wish you the very best of luck, actually I hope that luck doesn't enter into it. I hope that the surgeon uses all possible skill for a perfect outcome.

That sounds like one of those procedures that can go either way. I hope it goes well for you James.

I have never heard of that,I hope the best for you. The trouble with pain killers is that they loose their deadening power as you body gets used to them and also they are addictive. I am anxious to hear about this procedure and the results. Good luck.

Oooo, bummer. Never heard of that either. Good luck.

My father had bursitis in the shoulder. Totally unlike him, but he started getting acupuncture for it. I didn't even know he knew the word. Worked, he'd go back about every 6 months.

Me, I have a lot of pain. Headache 24/7 since 1981. Bad joints, bad back. Took pain killer when in the hospital in 2000 for a colon resection, but that's pretty much it, otherwise I don't take pain killers, even if prescribed. Instead I meditate, been doing that for probably 40+ years, and it works pretty darn well for me. So some of you other guys might want to look into it.

I have no idea where your pain is, but be careful, as sometimes this results in body parts that don't work any more. I really feel for the amount of pain that you are in, because I was in the same situation after I wrecked my knees while fighting a fire. I was on pain meds for 23 years before I could convince them that I couldn't take it or the pain any more. When I asked for the wheel chair, they began looking into total knee replacement for me. It was following the knee surgery that I discovered that they couldn't increase my pain meds beyond what I had already been taking. Needless to say, I really suffered during the recovery. I avoid pain meds as much as possible now, so if I ever really need it that it will work as it should.

Take care. I hope this solves your problem without loosing the use of anything important.

Thank you Herb,my appointment is this Friday owing to a cancellation. The main problem I have with the procedure is that my back is pretty messed up from previous surgeries so it's not as straight forward as could be. James.
I wish you a ton of luck, my friend, And realize you are at a point where you have to do something.

Best of luck James. I have been fighting a back issue since April. Going to physical therapy for two weeks now. Diagnosis is pinched nerve and arthritis. I refuse to take pain medication because of a previous kidney issue. Pain in under control with excersize.

never heard of that procedure either. I have had two spinal surgeries and still have the pain. I did look into Cell therapy, even went to a seminar on it. Mine seems to come and go. Might be due to my activities at the time. I don't take any pain pills either. I do have one of those electric shock machines and a thumper type of massager. They only work temporarily. Good luck with your procedure. Please let us know how it comes out.

Seems like a lot of us old guys would like to know.

I read all of this and it scares the heck out of me. Since my original injury was from an 82 mil mortar in Vietnam, the VA did my surgeries. My last one was suppose to take an hour. But after three hours I was still under. I was told later that the kids doing my surgery had cut the meninges of my spinal cord and could not stop the loss of fluid. I lost some feeling in my right foot from that. I will try anything now for the pain short of surgery.
