PC 893PK Type 1 guide posts rusted
Hello all, I was given a PC 893PK type 1 dated 2006 with both fixed and plunge base. There was some rusted parts so took everything apart that i could to clean off the light rust. The issue is the spring guide posts, they are stuck in position and do not plunge. I do not see a way to get the guides out of the base. I have tried soaking it with PB blaster for past three days and still wont budge. Any ideas on how these come apart? I do not see a retaining clip and the parts breakdown does not show any clips either. Thanks for your time

I took the springs out when taking everything apart but the guide posts will not separate from the base. ??
Welcome to the Forum, Jack...
Chances are the dissimilar metals have gone through some galvanic reaction...you may have to do some "tapping" to break through the oxidation (shear action). PB Blaster is about as good as you can use. You could also try some Liquid Wrench. Twisting might also work if you can use something like a belt/strap wrench. You could also try tapping on the side of the tube holder. And, of course, there's always applying some heat with a heat gun...NOT A TORCH...
If/when they come loose, take some very fine wet paper to polish the tubes, same for the holes they go in. I wouldn't go any more coarse than 1200 grit. Polish them with the wet paper sort of like shining shoes...put the paper over the tube and alternate pulling on each end. (I used to polish crankshafts using this technique)

Ok thanks, will see look at it and see how to hold the upper out base separate from bottom inner base with guide posts so i can tap on the posts a little and break them free. It probably is the oxidation between the cast aluminum and steel posts holding it tight.

I pulled the springs out of mine just now, and I can see what you're talking about the router mount not wanting to come off of the base. I think you have to take the plunge lever completely off, as well as the plunge depth stop.
Yeah i took those parts off also and nothing would budge.
