Under "Your Control Panel"
under "Setting & Options"
click "Edit Options"
Under "Messaging & Notification"
Under "Default Thread Subscription Mode"
Choose "Instant email notification" in the dropdown menu

look to see if your email provider is rejecting the notifications as robospam...

I do know that Google and email addresses that went through their system were having problems with their emails last week so you might check with your provider and see if it is on their end. That was one of the problems a customer of mine was having.
