Any suggestions on easy way to tighten the collet chuck on the arbor short of dis-assembly? Thanks, Jim

Welcome to the forum, Jim.

This is the first time I have heard of the chuck coming loose. I would have thought the spin direction would act to keep the chuck tight? Do you know what caused the chuck to come loose?

I have this Porter Cable router mounted horizontally in vertical drop mounted to my left table saw wing. I use it for edge cleanup. I added a speed control recently and was working a piece of maple w/ a fairly curly grain and all of a sudden it started to chatter so I shut down. Just happened to check the cutter and the entire collet assembly was loose on the arbor. Since re-assembly I bagged the speed control and now everything is fine. Jim

Lacking an impact gun, I pulled the motor apart and rigged a strap wrench with of rubber around the armature and wrenched it on. I was tempted to add a couple of drops of loc-tite but opted not to. Thanks for the reply. Jim
