I just got this from Jeremy Schmitt. He shows how to use the camera on an iphone to get measurements of tiny things (like my IQ?):

Thanks very much Jim. One more reason I am very happy to have bought an iPhone 7.
Are there any similar app for the androids (Samsung)?

Gene, thank you very much, I just instaled one, and its FINE!

Let me think. Hmmm, iphone, whatever that is, gonna cost money, probably a lot, then I'd have to learn how to operate the thing. It magnifies. Hmmm, thinking again. Got it, I'll keep my $6 phone, that is extremely simple to use, even has a camera. Then I'll buy a large magnifying glass, for a lot less than a iphone, can probably use it right off after I read the instructions for a magnifying glass. And, viola, then can lay whatever on a scale and read the scale with the highly technical magnifying glass.

Life is too complicated as is, no need to complicate it even more. K.I.S.S. also known as Keep It Simple Stupid.

My moto G4 Play (android) has the magnifier built in. Turn it on in settings then triple tap the screen.
If you (me) don't have a smartphone, all is not lost in the precise measuring dept!
Look at the huge number of USB microscopes now available. A LOT of them under $50! Some under $25.

The decent ones seem to have measuring capability built right in.

Sounds interesting, Dan. Thanks.
Interesting approach but if the detail is that fine it's way beyond my skill set.
