I am doing pull outs for the shelves in my kitchen that dont have them. My current pull outs have a hardwood front with a dip in the middle. I could never figure out of this was supposed to be functional or merely decorative. Is there something functional about this?
Not sure they are necessary in this case. They are mostly used when the drawers are installed very close together from top to bottom,as seen in the other pictures posted. the ones in my kitchen don't have those.
They are usually used when one does not want protruding knobs or handles on drawers - I have made a number of cabinets with this system - this is an African Mahogany Island unit I completed recently for a client.
I did the same as Rob with my bathroom vanity as I wanted a clean look without the one section of drawers showing so I put them behind a door with the cut out to get fingers in to pull them out.
Ahh! Closely stacked together. That makes functional sense. Thanks, all!
